celum opens competence center in Slovakia

On September 1st, 2011, celum, Europe's largest independent developer of Enterprise Digital Asset Management solutions, opens a new software competence center in Kosice, Slovakia.

“In the medium- and long-term, Kosice allows us to meet our ever-growing need for highly qualified programmers and developers, enabling celum to continue its rapid expansion. By the end of 2011, up to ten new software developers will be working at the Kosice facility,” explains celum CEO Michael Kraeftner. “Along with our newly opened headquarters in Linz, which is already close to capacity, this second tech facility offers us greater flexibility.”

The commercial center of Eastern Slovakia and home to the Kosice Technical Institute, Kosice has no shortage of highly-skilled software engineers. Unlike most other companies, which tend to simply outsource production to Eastern Europe, celum is investing heavily to create an integrated competence center. “celum isn't following the example set by the masses in Eastern Europe; we are one of the first international software companies to not just produce in Eastern Europe but engage in on-site research and development,” says Robert Soffa, head of the newly founded celum Slovakia s.r.o. “It's what sets us apart as an employer in the region.”
